About me

Jo Tan is a fully qualified and accomplished mental health professional. Originally from Malaysia, she has experienced life in multicultural societies and understands the pressures of living in another country.

She is able to provide counselling in both English and Chinese/Mandarin. 

Jo holds a Master of Arts (Counselling) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Behavioural Management. She is also a member of the Queensland Counselling Association (QCA), Psychotherapy, Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and The International Meditation Teachers & Therapist Association (IMMTA).

Function of therapy

The function of therapy is to promote self-care and love, as well as finding meaning in one’s life. Through therapy you will learn how to understand and manage painful thoughts and feelings. Therapy can also help you to clarify what is important and meaningful in your life, as well as helping you to identify roadblocks to achieving your goals. Overall, you will be making a positive change for yourself in order to become a more resilient and better version of you.
